Luggiebank is hardly the largest of places; most Scots would struggle to find it on a map. What the locale may lack in stature however it makes up for in other ways, for it is here that the country’s largest birds of prey centre can be found. World of Wings, situated just outside Cumbernauld, is home to a menagerie of majestic birds including eagles, owls, hawks, vultures and falcons. If it’s an avian that catches carrion, the odds are you’ll find it here. The centre attracts visitors from across the West of Scotland, with school trips especially popular. In addition to providing educational talks about birds of prey, the centre runs falconry courses and puts on flying shows. As for its avian pest control service, it’s reassuring to know that should your land be overrun by vermin, the birds have got your back. World of Wings, which is open from 10am-5pm seven days a week, has been praised for the conservation work it does to rescue and rehabilitate injured birds. It also runs a breeding programme in conjunction with zoos around the world. Take the family to Luggiebank and watch these glorious creatures swoop and soar.

Excellent from the welcome we received to the flying display at the end. Staff were very knowledgable both about the birds in their care and about the species in the wild. We held 4 birds and saw many more in the aviary and then watched the brilliant flight display with 4 other birds, all of them very different in the way they flew and interacted with the handlers. It was a very informative experience. The Cabin cafe was great for breakfast when we arrived.

I live in Abronhill and I cannot believe I have this on my doorstep. Took my grandchildren the other day and was amazed at the professionalism and friendliness of everyone there. A wonderful day out . The brown directional signs to the place drew my attention to it. The cafe after the bird show was good value for money and very welcoming. I must thank everyone for a great time
